The year is about to come to an end, but first, we want to put a wave of new up-and-coming Latina artists on your radar.

In April, we highlighted 17 hidden gems who might not be topping the charts (yet) but gifted us with their beautifully crafted music and distinctive voices during the quarantine.

Now, with 2020 almost wrapping up, Billboard showcases 20 more artists who are making waves in the music industry. From the emerging Regional Mexican artist Adriana Rios to Reina de la Cancion’s winner Yennis, check them out below.

ADRIANA RIOS

Signed to AfinArte Music, Rios has proven to be a one to watch in the regional Mexican realm. Hailing from Tijuana, Mexico, the emerging singer-songwriter has already shared the stage with Latin music titans such as Los Ángeles Azules, Julio Preciado, Aleks Syntek and Pancho Barraza. In September, she released her latest single “Que Tanto Es Tantito.” 

ANTONIA JONES

The Colombian-born singer-songwriter is making her way in the music industry with her empowering lyrics, fresh musical approach, and sultry vocals. Not afraid to voice her thoughts, Jones has dropped songs that reflect a woman’s independence, self-love, adventurous side, and much more, often to a pop-funk-R&B melody. Just recently, Juanes endorsed the promising artist on his social media.

BIANCA

Bianca became a viral sensation in her native Brazil with her hit “Tudo no Sigilo.” Now, with her new single “Cara-Metade,” the aspiring Latina singer is making a name for herself as the next Brazilian funk star. She recently collaborated with up-and-comer Argentine artist Emilia in the bilingual bop “Já é Tarde.”

CARMEN DELEON

Carmen DeLeon may be a newcomer, but she caught the industry’s attention after singing covers of “Despacito” and Ariana Grande’s “Into You.” Born in Caracas, Venezuela, DeLeon, 19, released her debut single “Volverás” over the summer. Her latest single “Juega,” a pop-infused track, features Colombian singer-songwriter Feid.

CHESCA

Born in Puerto Rico and musically inspired by Michael Jackson and Aretha Franklin, Chesca is signed to Saban Music Group and scored her first No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart thanks to “Súbelo” ft. Pitbull and Static & Ben. Most recently, she recorded a Spanish version of “The Change” written by Diane Warren, which became part of the president-elect Joe Biden’s campaign.

HELEN OCHOA

Regional Mexican singer Helen Ochoa released her debut album Si Yo Fuera Un Chico in 2016 and has slowly but steadily, made a name for herself in the male-dominated genre. Recently, she teamed up with Chiquis and Ely Quintero for the ultra girl power anthem “Las Destrampadas.”

ISABELA MERCED

After establishing herself as a Hollywood actress, in films such as Transformers: The Last Knight and Dora and the Lost City of Gold, where she portrayed Dora, Isabela Merced kicked off her music career in 2019. With her singles “Papi,” Apocalipsis,” and her latest collaboration with Danna Paola, Isabela brings a fresh bilingual pop sound to the table.

IVONNE GALAZ

Signed to Rancho Humilde, Mexican singer Ivonne Galaz is a rising singer in the corridos tumbados realm. Galaz became the first female signee on the indie label. Most recently, she released a corrido inspired by Vanessa Guillen, a 20-year-old U.S. Army soldier who was murdered on April 22, 2020, inside a Fort Hood, Texas. Galaz hails form Sonora, Mexico and made her debut last year after being featured on Natanael Cano’s song “Golpes de La Vida.”

KARLA VALLÍN

From Aguascalientes, Mexico, Karla Vallin is an emerging artist whose biggest inspiration comes from Beyoncé, Selena, Bruno Mars, and Frank Sinatra, to name a few. Making music on her own terms, Vallín, daughter or Mana’s guitarist Sergio Vallín and signed to Seitrack, is not afraid to experiment with cumbia, Regional Mexican, and pop fusions.

LA ROSS MARIA

Hailing from the Dominican Republic comes 17-year-old La Ross Maria. The new talent, which already has a collaboration with Romeo Santos, flaunts her hoarse yet delicate vocals in empowering freestyles about respecting women. La Ross officially kicked off her music career in 2020 under the wing of record label 829Music Mundial.

LOLA INDIGO

Straight from Granada, Spain, Lola Indigo (real name: Miriam Doblas Muñoz) first got on the radar after participating in Operacion Triunfo.  Her debut single “Ya No Quiero Ná,” released under Universal Music, put her powerhouse vocals and infectious fusions on the map. She’s collaborated with artists such as Danna Paola, Beret, Rauw Alejandro, and more.

MABILAND

From Medellin, Colombia, Mabiland is an LGBTQ neo-soul singer and rapper, who’s captivating the music scene with her soulful voice and jazz-infused R&B melodies. Mabiland has added her unique touch to other collaborations that include  Elsa y Elmar, Jona Camacho, and Crudo Means Raw.

MAIA REFICO

In October, Argentine-American actress, singer-songwriter Maia Reficco released her debut single “TUYA,” a hypnotizing pop-urban track that shows off her wide vocal range. The 20-year-old artist started her artistic career as an actress and in 2019, she scored a role on Broadway’s Evita.

MARIA BECERRA

Rising Argentine singer-songwriter Maria Becerra is a promising act in the urban-pop scene in her native Argentina. In July, she became the first Latin artist to join indie label 300 Entertainment, home to artists such as Megan Thee Stallion and Fetty Wap. Citing Rihanna as her biggest musical inspiration, her “High” remix features other on the rise artists Tini and Lola Indigo.

RENATA FLORES

Renata Flores Rivera, from Huamanga, Peru, is bringing a different and promising proposal to the music industry. Flores, who participated in La Voz Kids Peru in 2014, is now making waves with her indigenous activism found in her trap songs, which for the most part, are sung in her ancestral language of Quechua.

SARÁ

This 20-year-old singer-songwriter released her first ever single today (Nov. 12) titled “Bésame,” a soft reggaeton-pop track. Sará is also currently studying music production and business at the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music in New York. Her new single is a preview of her forthcoming debut studio album that will include 10 tracks.

SILVANA ESTRADA

Over the summer, Mexican singer-songwriter Silvana Estrada became the first Latin artist signed to Glassnote Records. Born and raised in Veracruz, Mexico and inspired by artists like Billie Holiday and Sarah Vaughan, Estrada began her musical career at a young age experimenting with different instruments — both her parents were luthiers. In 2018, the 23-year-old artist sang “La Llorona” alongside Natalia Lafourcade and MonLaferte at Mexico City’s Teatro Metropolitan.

SESSI

Sessi entered the Latin music scene with her debut single “Deja Que Te Lleve” at the helm of Grammy-nominated producer Gavriel “Vein” Rafael. In the music video, the Latinx songstress flaunts her killer dance moves, her deep-rooted lyrics, and most importantly, her fresh power vocals.

TATIANA HAZEL

Born in Chicago, Tatiana Hazel is a multifaceted artist who is making waves with her dreamy pop songs and ethereal voice showcased in her new EP titled Duality. The 21-year-old singer-songwriter, producer and fashion designer started at the young age of 13 when she was making her own music videos. Hazel has spent the summer speaking out against systemic racism and police brutality. 

YENNIS

Last year, Yennis Bencosme walked away as the winner of Univision’s Reina de la Canción, bagging many prizes, including $50,000 and an exclusive contract with Sony Music Latin. The Cuban artist, who’s currently making the rounds with her Mati Gomez-assisted track “Fiesta, hopes to one day collaborate with Olga Tañon and Natti Natasha.
