AC/DC jump from No. 62 to No. 1 on the Billboard Artist 100 chart (dated Nov. 28) to become the top musical act in the U.S. for the first time since the chart’s 2014 launch.
The legendary Rock & Roll Hall of Famers reign on the strength of their new LP Power Up, which debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart with 117,000 equivalent album units earned, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.
AC/DC earns their third No. 1 album, following 1981’s For Those About to Rock (We Salute You) and 2008’s Black Ice.
AC/DC is the first rock group to top the Artist 100 since Tool in September 2019, and the fourth group overall to lead the list in 2020, after Jackboys, BTS and Blackpink.
Fellow iconic rock group Kiss debuts at No. 89 on the Artist 100, sparked by a Walmart-exclusive vinyl sale of the band’s 1977 LP Love Gun. The set debuts at No. 6 on Hard Rock Albums, No. 9 on Vinyl Albums and No. 16 on Top Album Sales with 9,000 copies sold.
The Artist 100 measures artist activity across key metrics of music consumption, blending album and track sales, radio airplay, streaming and social media fan interaction to provide a weekly multi-dimensional ranking of artist popularity.
