‘Tis the season to get together (virtually) with friends. And nothing says togetherness like a remix with an old pal. Demi Lovato joins her longtime friends All Time Low on a new version of their Wake Up, Sunshine single “Monsters,” which dropped on Friday (Dec. 4) along with an updated animated lyric video.

The urgent, crunchy pop-punk song, which also features Blackbear, powers up when Lovato jumps in on the chorus mid-way through, singing, “I’m wondering why/ Do all the monsters come out at night?/ Why do we sleep where we want to hide?/ Why do I run back to you like I don’t mind if you f–k up my life?”

“Feels like I’ve known these guys forever I’m SO stoked that the @AllTimeLow guys asked me to jump on MONSTERS and it’s sooo dope to also have a song out with @iamblackbear!!! ,” Lovato tweeted about the surprise collab.

“Demi’s been a friend for a long time and we’re really excited that she was down to lend her absolutely incredible voice to this song as we reimagine it and continue to celebrate all the ways it’s connecting with fans around the world,” said All Time Low singer Alex Gaskarth in a statement.

The original version of “Monsters” gave the band their first-ever No. 1 at radio when the song has topped the Modern Rock chart for 11 weeks.

Futhermore, on Friday night, ATL will dive back into their Basement Noise Concert Series, a five-night streaming event filmed in Nashville in July that kicked off on Oct. 9. Bandmembers have taken turns curating each show’s setlist, with Friday’s picked by Gaskarth.
