Amber Riley took to social media on Monday night (Nov. 23) to share the happy news that she’s engaged.
“I’m marrying my best friend @DeseanBlack #engaged,” the singer captioned a photo on Twitter with fiancé Desean Black. In the snap, Riley smiles adoringly at her husband-to-be as they’re both wearing animal print tops — his leopard, hers snakeskin — and black jeans.
Meanwhile, the star shared the same portrait on Instagram with a heartfelt post about the journey that led her to Black.
“There was a time when I thought I didn’t want or deserve this kind of love,” she wrote. “I’m looking at a man who changed my mind. My time by myself, loving on myself, getting comfortable with myself, prepared me for you, and prepared me for this. I am so proud to say, I am the future Mrs. Black. I love you @deseanblack_official and I thank you for your patience, your friendship, and your partnership! ‘What God has joined together, let no man separate.’”
The Glee actress took the relationship public just one month ago with another sweet Instagram post showing her initial DMs with Black, who describes himself as a “Man of God 1st! Advertiser, Entrepreneur – Fitness and Fashion Savage!” in his Twitter bio.
News of Riley’s engagement arrives just seven weeks the release of her self-titled debut solo EP, which she dropped under her last name, stylized in all caps. The six-track R&B-fueled project features lead single “A Moment” — which she first performed in tribute to her late co-star Naya Rivera on Jimmy Kimmel Live! back in August — as well as follow-up singles “BGE,” “Creepin” and BJ The Chicago Kid collaboration “Hood Living.”
