Girl it ain’t no secret if I know you’re gonna peep it! On Tuesday (Dec. 8), Ariana Grande took to social media to tease something she appears to be cooking up with Netflix.
The superstar kicked off the speculation after posting a trio of moody black-and-white stills from her 2019 Sweetener World Tour. Responding to her own tweet, Grande then tagged Netflix’s official Twitter account, prompting Arianators across the internet to run wild with ideas and theories.
“Sweetener movie?!??????,” one fan excitedly asked with a pair of eyes emoji, while another jokingly tweeted, “Now’s the perfect time for that free one month subscription lmao.”
For their part, Netflix also replied to the pop star’s tweet with lyrics from Sweetener album cut “R.E.M.,” writing, “Excuse me, I love you.” (Don’t worry, fans were quick to point out the streamer left out Ari’s famous ad lib in the lyric, with one writing simply, “u forgot the um.”)
Grande has kept remarkably busy since wrapping her Sweetener World Tour in December of 2019, recording and releasing her sixth studio album Positions from quarantine and topping the Hot 100 charts three consecutive times in 2020 thanks to collabs with Justin Bieber (“Stuck With U”) and Lady Gaga (“Rain On Me”) and the title track of her latest studio set.
The superstar vocalist also joined forces just last week with Mariah Carey and Jennifer Hudson on a new version of the former’s 2010 holiday single “Oh Santa!,” sending social media into festive hysterics as she and Carey harmonized their iconic whistle tones during Mariah Carey’s Magical Christmas Special on Apple TV+.
Billboard has reached out to both Grande’s team and Netflix for more details.
