Like “Dynamite”! On Thursday (Dec. 10), TIME named BTS as the magazine’s 2020 Entertainer of the Year.

The honor came with the K-pop boy band landing on the cover of the latest issue of TIME, with the septet dressed in a neutral palette of well-tailored suits as they serve steely gazes at the camera.

In the accompanying cover story, the idols opened up about the banner year they’ve had in 2020, landing their first three No. 1 hits atop the Hot 100 (“Dynamite,” “Life Goes On,” and the BTS remix of Jason Derulo and Jawsh 685’s “Savage Love [Laxed — Siren Beat]”), releasing three separate LPs (February’s Map of the Soul: 7, July’s Japanese-language Map of the Soul: 7 — The Journey and November’s Be) and effectively becoming the biggest band in the world.

“There are times when I’m still taken aback by all the unimaginable things that are happening,” Suga told the magazine. “But I ask myself, ‘Who’s going to do this, if not us?’”

“We’re not sure if we’ve actually earned respect,” RM added when asked about the group’s devoted global fanbase. “But one thing for sure is that [people] feel like, ‘O.K., this is not just some kind of a syndrome, a phenomenon. These little boys from Korea are doing this.’”

In addition to BTS as Entertainer of the Year, TIME also named LeBron James as Athlete of the Year. The magazine is set to reveal its 2020 Person of the Year — narrowed down to Joe Biden, Donald Trump, Dr. Anthony Fauci and the nation’s frontline healthcare workers, and the movement for racial justice — during a special broadcast on Thursday night on NBC. During the telecast, the boy band is set to perform their No. 1 hit “Dynamite,” live from Seoul.
