Surely all ARMY wants for Christmas is a performance by BTS, and that’s exactly what they’ll be getting! On Friday (Nov. 13), SBS announced the K-pop boy band as the first performers for the upcoming 2020 SBS Gayo Daejeon.
The yearly music festival is set to be held on Dec. 25 in the South Korean city of Daegu, and BTS will take the stage just one month after the release of their upcoming fifth Korean-language studio set, Be. The theme of this year’s SBS Gayo Daejeon will be ‘The Wonder Year.’
Coincidentally, Daegu happens to be a special place for more than one member of the boy band — V was born there, while Suga calls the city his hometown. (The latter is currently recovering from a surgical procedure to fix a torn labrum in his left shoulder.)
The show is typically streamed online, though further details on how to tune in are yet to be announced.
BTS also headlined last year’s televised festival, which also featured performances by the likes of TWICE, NCT 127, NCT Dream, Itzy, Monsta X and Tomorrow x Together.
The group’s forthcoming LP is set to drop on Nov. 20 as their second major release of 2020 (following Japanese-language full-length Map of the Soul: 7 – The Journey last July). Be was also preceded by the unveiling of lead single “Life Goes On,” which the K-pop idols are set to perform next week at the 2020 American Music Awards along with their No. 1 smash hit “Dynamite.”
Ahead of the Korean festival, the septet will also take part in ABC’s upcoming Disney Holiday Singalong on Nov. 30, along with Katy Perry, P!nk, Adam Lambert, Chloe x Halle and more.
