Two weeks after revealing her hospitalization with pregnancy complications, Christina Perri announced on Tuesday that she and her husband lost the baby. “Last night we lost our baby girl,” Perri wrote along with an image of her holding her daughter’s finger. “She was born silent after fighting so hard to make it to our world. she is at peace now & will live forever in our hearts.”

Perri was hospitalized recently with complications earlier this month and asked fans to send some love “from your heart to the little heart beating in me that we all make it through this.” The baby was reportedly experiencing intestinal complications and Perry, 34, revealed just days later that the infant would require surgery after birth.

“The baby right now is scheduled to have an operation when they arrive,” she wrote at the time. “We’ll spend some time in the hospital. We’re going to prepare for [the NICU], but anything could happen.” Perri and her husband, Paul Costabile, have a 2-year-old daughter, Carmella Stanley. She announced they were expecting their second child together in July — six months after Perri revealed she had a miscarriage in January.
