Jay-Z’s capping 2020 — and celebrating his 51st birthday today (Dec. 4) — with a new playlist he curated exclusively on his streaming service Tidal.
He captures the riotous year with 40 tracks that gave us reasons to laugh, cry, rejoice and protest, including his wife Beyoncé‘s “Black Parade (Extended Version)” and remix of Megan Thee Stallion’s “Savage” and his Roc Nation artist Jay Electronica’s “Universal Soldier,” “Ghost of Soulja Slim” and “A.P.I.D.T.A.,” which Hov lends his vocals to.
“Ghost of Soulja Slim” was also featured on his “Songs for Survival 2″ Tidal playlist, which was filled with protest anthems new and old that Jay-Z released this summer during the heat of the Black Lives Matter movement.
He rounds out the whirlwind year-end playlist with The Weeknd’s “Snowchild;” Drake’s “Laugh Now Cry Later,” featuring Lil Durk; Travis Scott’s “Franchise,” featuring Young Thug and M.I.A.; Jazmine Sullivan’s “Lost One;” Lil Baby’s “Emotionally Scarred;” and more.
And to tie it all together, the prolific rapper picked a picture of reigning tennis champion Naomi Osaka wearing a face mask with George Floyd’s name during this year’s Women’s U.S. Open as the cover of his 2020 playlist.
