McDonald’s has had a number of all-star partnerships this year, including successful collaborations with Travis Scott and J Balvin. The popular fast food company announced on Tuesday (Nov. 24) that their next team-up is with John Legend and Chrissy Teigen — this time for charity.
The new #HereForRMHC social media challenge hopes to rally support and awareness for Ronald McDonald House Charities, which helps families with sick and injured children. Starting now through Dec. 31, when users post a photo rocking the “RMHC heart” Instagram, Twitter, TikTok or Facebook using the hashtag #HereForRMHC, McDonald’s will give RMHC $100 in your name as part of the company’s $100 million commitment.
How do you make the RMHC heart? Start by forming a diamond with your hands, then point your pinky up and push your index fingers down. Teigen and Legend, who will use their platform to raise awareness of the challenge, showed fans how it’s done here.
“It is such an incredible initiative (100 million!) and we are proud to be even a small part of it,” the model tweeted. “The hashtag works both here and Instagram!”
The couple stopped by Good Morning America to discuss the initiative, and opened up about the devastating miscarriage they suffered in September.
“I definitely give myself permission to feel complete and utter grief,” Teigen said. “Every day is so different. So when people ask me how I’m doing I always say I’m okay — today.”
“I didn’t know that we could experience this grief and also share it, but when we did it really meant so much to so many people,” Legend added. “And it was such a powerful experience for me to learn that. I’m just grateful that my wife was courageous enough to do it.”
Teigen went on to note that she’s received “thousands of letters” from supporters. “The world is inherently good. I believe people are inherently good, and it’s shown itself,” she said. “As hard as it was, it is beautiful to see this side of it.”
