Kali Uchis notches her first career entry on Billboard’s Latin albums charts, thanks to her new all-Spanish-language LP Sin Miedo (Del Amor y Otros Demonios).
The set arrives at No. 2 on Latin Pop Albums and No. 21 on Top Latin Albums with 3,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending Nov. 19, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.
“Being that it’s my first album all in Spanish, I feel so blessed and grateful to have such an amazing base of people who support me,” she tells Billboard. “I really couldn’t have done this without my beautiful fan base and their love and support.”
Kali Uchis had debuted one album on Billboard’s charts prior to Sin Miedo. Her 2018 debut studio album Isolation reached No. 4 on the Top R&B Albums chart and No. 32 on the Billboard 200. But having the opportunity to lean into her Colombian roots and record her sophomore LP in Spanish added a new level of depth to her discography that she says she had been searching for.
“I have been trying to find the balance between what it means to be bilingual and multicultural for a while,” she says. “To be able to create an album that I feel fully captures not only my upbringing, but also how multi-dimensional Latin music really is, was ultimately my goal. This album is so personal to me and I tried to represent my people and the Latin community as best as I could.”
Notably, she had earned one Latin chart entry before Sin Miedo. She was the featured artist on Juanes’ “El Ratico,” which reached No. 45 on Hot Latin Songs and No. 23 on Latin Airplay in 2017.
