Kelly Clarkson performs a swoon-worthy cover of Billy Currington’s “Let Me Down Easy” for Monday’s (Nov. 23) “Kellyoke” segment.
There’s a little moody pink and purple stage light dancing behind Clarkson during the intimate performance of the country singer-songwriter’s No. 1 single on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart from nearly a decade ago.
“If I fall, can ya let me down easy?/ If I leave my heart with you tonight/ Will you promise me that you’re going to treat it right?/ I’m barely hanging on/ If I fall, can you let me down easy?” she sings.
In 2017, Currington replied to a fan’s Twitter random music request for a duet between him and Clarkson, writing, “me too.” Although her cover’s not an actual duet, Clarkson’s clearly a fan of his music.
She’s previously covered country classics such as Faith Hill’s “It Matters to Me,” Pam Tillis’ “Maybe It Was Memphis,” Wynonna’s “No One Else on Earth,” and Jo Dee Messina’s “Heads Carolina, Tails California” on The Kelly Clarkson Show.
