Kelly Clarkson’s got no tears left to cry! On Thursday (Dec. 3), the talk show host delivered a rock-tinged take on Ariana Grande’s “No Tears Left to Cry” for her latest Kellyoke cover.

“Right now, I’m in a state of mind/ I wanna be in like all the time/ Ain’t got no tears left to cry/ So I’m pickin’ it up, pickin’ it up/ Lovin’, I’m livin’, I’m pickin’ it up/ I just want you to come with me/ We’re on another mentality/ Ain’t got no tears left to cry/ So I’m pickin’ it up, pickin’ it up/ I’m lovin’, I’m livin’, I’m pickin’ it up,” the superstar wails on the upbeat chorus over churning electric guitars and drums, with back-up from her house band Y’All.

The lead single of Grande’s 2018 studio set Sweetener, “No Tears Left to Cry” peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 upon its release. The LP also featured fellow top ten hits “God is a Woman” and “Breathin” before the superstar released her fifth album, 2019’s Thank U, Next, less than a year later, earning the first of five career Hot 100 chart-toppers with that project’s title track.

Throughout the week, Clarkson has offered up a truly diverse mix of Kellyoke covers, from Tina Turner’s “A Fool in Love” and Linda Rondstadt’s iconic “Blue Bayou” to Justin Bieber’s No. 1 hit “Sorry” from 2015’s Purpose.

Grande, meanwhile, is currently prepping the release of “Oh Santa!,” her new Christmas collab with Mariah Carey and Jennifer Hudson, and will appear in Mariah Carey’s Magical Christmas Special on Apple TV+ this coming Friday (Dec. 4) to perform the track for the first time.
