Experts say that the most effective way to feel better about yourself is to do something nice for someone else. In the case of LA Gives Back, doing something nice is as easy as firing up your computer for the annual holiday fundraiser.
HappeningThursday, Dec. 17, via Twitch, the 24-hour event will feature performances from artists including but not limited to: Snakehips, Madeon, Mija, A Club Called Rhonda, Baauer and Holly, Giraffage, A-Trak and AC Slater.
Produced by Los Angeles-based crews Iheartcomix and Brownies & Lemonade, the show also features appearances from Joel McHale, Eric Andrew, Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and a troupe of marionettes. See the complete lineup below.
While this do-gooding party typically happens in a crowded Los Angeles club, this year the event goes global, meaning music fans around the world can bid on items up for auctino via Fandiem — a digital sweepstakes marketplace. Prizes include an Ariana Grande Mega Merch Pack, a signed case of ranch dressing by Eric Andre, exclusive signed Shepard Fairey prints, a year’s supply of Guayakí Yerba Mate, a limited-edition Sofi Tukker x Solé bicycle and more. The event is also accepting charitable donations.
All the money raised via LA Gives Back goes to SchoolHouse Connection, a national organization that combats homelessness with education, and Los Angeles-based homelessness services Downtown Women’s Center and My Friend’s Place.
“It’s so cool that so many of LA’s top music curators and creative talent can come together and produce a live stream that draws attention to this huge crisis in our community,” Iheartcomix Founder Frankie Chan says in a statement. “We hope that the telethon can showcase the wide diversity and collaborative nature that makes LA so special while raising the funds so desperately needed to address the [homeless] issue.”
