André 3000 has reunited with his old partners Goodie Mob for a laconic verse on the song “No Cigar” from the group’s Survival Kit album.
The collection, which dropped on Friday (Nov. 13), features a reunion of the key members of the legendary Atlanta Dungeon Family, with Goodie represented by Cee-Lo, T-Mo, Big Gipp and Khujo on their first album since 2013’s reunion album Age Against the Machine. And though they appear on separate tracks, André’s OutKast bandmate, Big Boi, also appears on the 16-track Organized Noize-produced album.
Reclusive rapper André dips in on the fourth verse of “No Cigar” with lyrics that harken back to the early days of the Mob working it out in a dusty basement, which he calls a “home for misfits.”
“I could tell that b—h was hell/ She prolly needed a father/ For the record, me too, what the hell could we do?/ Let your older partners raise ya’ and watch ‘em do what they do/ Now I pull over just in case I gotta snooze when I cru’,” he raps. “Now I know we all some babies, they was just learnin’ too/ I’m hula hoopin’, double dutchin’, kickballin’ that hoe/ New maneuver, no discussion, f–k ‘em, all of them hoes/ What’s a dungeon? A home, home for misfits/ Sleepin’ on the floor then wake up when you smell somethin’ lit (Yeah).”
Dre has been quiet lately, saying he’s not that motivated or confident in his mic skills, while featuring on just two songs in 2019, Anderson .Paak’s “Come Home” and James Blake’s “Where’s the Catch?”
