As much as we were hoping to see Blackpink rock a massive world tour in support of their recent debut The Album, the K-pop quartet is holding us over with The Show, their first-ever livestream concert.
The event, in partnership with YouTube Music, will take place on Dec. 26 at 9 p.m. PST/Dec. 27 at 12 a.m. EST. While we still have a few weeks until the big day, we can help but thing about all the exciting tricks Blackpink has up their sleeves.
Here are five things we hope to see during The Show.
1. Interactive Experiences
Zoom audience members, a virtual meet-and-greet, a lively comments section — we’ll take anything to feel, even just for a minute, that we’re enjoying The Show in person or interacting with fellow Blinks. YG Entertainment is known for delivering creative digital experiences, and The Show shouldn’t be any different.
2. Special Guests
Selena Gomez performing the “Ice Cream” choreography alongside her K-pop collaborators? Lady Gaga showing up for a “Sour Candy” moment? Cardi B delivering her dynamic “Be You Wanna” verse? While it might be difficult to do so virtually, it would be amazing to see the Blackpink collaborations of 2020 get their live moment.
3. Killer Outfits
Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa never disappoint with their onstage style, rocking different outfits that suit each girl’s personality, yet remaining cohesive. They’ll surely step it up a notch for their fist livestream show, serving some serious looks.
4. Equally Incredible Choreography
Sure, this is another given, but what is a Blackpink show without their impressive dance skills? Seeing the iconic “Lovesick Girls” chorus head tap is something to look forward to, but it will be interesting to see how the group will portray the rest of The Album’s songs in choreography.
5. A Mix of Old and New Hits
For the first time, the group will be performing songs from the debut project at The Show as a thank you to their dedicated Blinks. It would still be great to see bits of “DDU-DU DDU-DU” and other pre-2020 songs, just to remind us of non-pandemic times.
