Phoenix rules a Billboard airplay chart for the first time in a decade, as “Identical” crowns the Adult Alternative Songs list dated Nov. 28.

The last time the French band went No. 1 at radio? February 2010, when “1901” led Alternative Airplay for two weeks.

Since then, Phoenix has scored multiple airplay chart entries, paced by the No. 4-peaking “Lisztomania” on Alternative Airplay in July 2010.

“Identical” is the band’s first Adult Alternative Songs ruler, surpassing the No. 6 peak of “1901.” The group boasts one other top 10 on the chart, “J-Boy” (No. 9, 2017).

“Identical” hit No. 22 on Alternative Airplay and No. 24 on the all-rock-format, audience-based Rock Airplay chart earlier in November.

Phoenix’s last album, Ti Amo, debuted at No. 3 on the Alternative Albums tally dated July 1, 2017. “Identical” is from the soundtrack to Sofia Coppola’s film On the Rocks, starring Bill Murray and Rashida Jones. Coppola is married to Phoenix frontman Thomas Mars.
