Steve Earle & The Dukes are honoring Steve’s son, Justin Townes Earle, with their upcoming album J.T., out on what would have been the late musician’s 39th birthday.
The group unveiled the tribute project’s first track, “Harlem River Blues,” on Wednesday (Nov. 18), a cover of one of Justin’s most memorable hits. The track won song of the year at the 2011 Americana Music Awards.
Justin died in August 2020 due to a probable drug overdose. All artist advances and royalties from J.T. will be donated to a trust for Etta St. James Earle, the three-year-old daughter of Justin and Jenn Earle.
