Taylor Swift has an early Christmas present for Swifties: a new film due out on Tuesday night (Nov. 24) on Disney+. The singer surprised the world again on Tuesday morning when she announced the imminent drop of Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions at midnight PST/ 3 a.m. ET.

“Well it’s 11/24 and 24-11=13 so I’ve got an announcement You haven’t seen this film before,” Swift tweeted about the surprise film documenting a performance of songs from her No. 1 quarantine folk album. The two-minute trailer for the film zooms in on the rustic Long Pond Studio in New York’s Hudson Valley as Swift says, “There’s something about the complete and total uncertainty of life… if we’re going to have to recalibrate everything, we should state with what we love the most.”

The camera zeroes in on a wood-paneled cabin in the pines, as Swift enters the frame in a woman of the woods outfit, complete with flannel shirt and black overcoat and perfectly mussed, frontier-blown hair. The subtitle then reveals that the film is “an intimate concert of the record-breaking Folklore.”

Seated on a couch with headphones, Swift croons “Cardigan” to the accompaniment of album producers Aaron Dessner’s piano, as she toasts to her first-ever in-person glass of wine with The National guitarist/composer and her frequent collaborator, Jack Antonoff. “It’s an album that allows you to feel your feelings and it’s a product of isolation,” says Swift while seated outdoors. “This could have been a time when I absolutely lost my mind. And instead I think this album was a real floatation device for both of us,” she tells Dessner.

It’s the second time this week that Swift has surprised fans, coming on the heels of her announcement during Sunday night’s 2020 American Music Awards that she is in the studio re-recording all of her old music.
