UTA has signed legendary recording artist, producer and songwriter Teddy Riley for worldwide representation in all areas.

Riley is a Grammy-winning, multi-platinum music icon widely credited with for creating New Jack Swing, a music style that has influenced contemporary R&B, hip-hop, gospel, soul and pop music since the early 1980s. He has produced over 1,000 songs for artists including Michael Jackson, Bobby Brown, Keith Sweat, Doug E. Fresh, Johnny Kemp, Joe, Heavy D & The Boyz, The Winans, and Al B. Sure!, among many others.

Most recently, Riley battled Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds in the Instagram Live digital music series Verzuz in April 2020. According to UTA, their competition amassed more than 500,000 unique viewers, breaking IG Live’s record for the series. Additionally, he is currently serving as music supervisor and composer for BET’s forthcoming miniseries Uptown, set to air in fall 2021.

Riley produced Michael Jackson’s 1991 album Dangerous, which went straight to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album was RIAA-certified platinum seven times over with gross earnings of over $1 billion for Sony, according to UTA. Additionally, Riley later produced four songs on Jackson’s Invincible album.

As a recording artist, Riley formed the R&B trio Guy with Aaron Hall and Timmy Gatling in 1987. Their eponymous 1988 debut album was certified double-platinum by the RIAA. Riley later founded Blackstreet with fellow record producers Thomas R. Taliaferro and Chauncey “Black” Hannibal. Blackstreet released several hits including the No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 single “No Diggity” with Dr. Dre and Queen Pen, as well as “Don’t Leave Me,” “Girlfriend/Boyfriend,” “Before I Let You Go,” and many more.

Throughout his career, Riley has won two Grammy awards for best engineered album – non-classical for his production work on Jackson’s Dangerous and for best R&B performance by a duo or group with vocal for Blackstreet’s single “No Diggity.” He also received the legend award at the 2016 Soul Train Awards, an NAACP Image Award for outstanding album for the Soul Food soundtrack and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He was inducted into the Hip-Hop Hall of Fame in 2007.
