This week was a big one for music accolades, with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, MTV Europe Music Awards and CMA Awards all taking place. Plus, there was news on the Latin Grammys and Soul Train Awards front!

Artists celebrated Joe Biden winning the 2020 presidential election
Joe Biden is officially the president-elect of the United States, defeating incumbent Donald Trump in the 2020 election! Biden’s running mate Senator Kamala Harris has also become the first women to be elected as vice president. When the news broke on Saturday (Nov. 7), everyone from Lady Gaga and Beyonce to Billie Eilish and Questlove celebrated on social media. The Foo Fighters were the musical guest on Saturday Night Live
SNL’s post-election episode saw the rockers debuting their new song “Shame Shame,” which will appear on their new album (due in 2021). The Foos also performed “Times Like These” from 2002’s One by One. Watch the videos here.
The 2020 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony took place
Like most every other big event this year, the ceremony went virtual, airing on HBO Saturday (Nov. 7). Though there were no musical performances this year, each inductee received an introduction from a celeb fan, plus a montage of their career and legacy.

Ariana Grande’s Positions debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200
Grande’s latest set took the top “position” on the Billboard 200 chart, making for her third No. 1 album in less than two years and three months! Positions launched with 174,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S.

BTS won big at the 2020 MTV Europe Music Awards
The 2020 EMAs were full of action, as BTS earned four awards — best song, best group, best virtual live and biggest fans — while Lady Gaga took home the award for best artist. Plus, artists like Doja Cat, Karol G, Zara Larsson, DaBaby, Little Mix (who also hosted) and many more performed. Check out the winners’ list here!
“Mood” returned to No. 1 on the Hot 100
24kGoldn and Iann Dior are in a good “Mood” once again! Their hit rebounded from No. 3 to No. 1 for a third total week atop the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, drawing 19.2 million U.S. streams and 7,000 downloads in the week ending Nov. 5, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data. The final performers for the 2020 Latin Grammys were announced
The Latin Recording Academy announced the final list of performers set to take the stage at the forthcoming 2020 Latin Grammys, which will take place on Thursday, Nov. 19. Rauw Alejandro, Anitta, J Balvin, Camilo and more have been added to the lineup, which already included artists such as Anuel AA, Marc Anthony, Bad Bunny and Karol G.

The 2021 Super Bowl performer was announced
It’s official: The Weeknd will headline the 2021 Pepsi Super Bowl LV Halftime Show on Feb. 7, 2021! News of the big gig was revealed on Nov. 12. “We all grow up watching the world’s biggest acts playing the Super Bowl and one can only dream of being in that position,” The Weeknd said in a statement. “I’m humbled, honored and ecstatic to be the center of that infamous stage this year.” Here’s what we know so far.

The 2020 Soul Train Awards nominations were announced
The 2020 Soul Train Awards presented by BET will air Sunday, Nov. 29, and now we know who’s nominated. H.E.R. is the top nominee with eight nominations, and is followed by Chris Brown (seven nods), Beyoncé and Young Thug (six each), and Chloe X Halle, Summer Walker and Usher with five each. Billboard’s latest cover highlighted the R&B renaissance
Four powerful female R&B stars — Kehlani, Jhené Aiko, Teyana Taylor and Summer Walker — graced the latest cover of Billboard, with interviews conducted by Gail Mitchell. “…As the genre catches up commercially, it’s having a renaissance artistically — one that’s largely powered by female singer-songwriters who are reimagining and reinterpreting its sounds for a new generation of listeners,” Mitchell writes.
